Creel, an orphaned young woman, finds herself caught up in complicated dragon-versus-human politics—and all the fuss is over a pair of shoes.
Dragon Slippers is a middle grade novel with some action violence, deaths, a mention of a young woman being a virgin, some minor language (one use of bloody), and a clean romance between two characters that is not the main focus of the story. The plot is mysterious and full of magic, and moves along at a smooth pace, and Creel is a smart, strong, and heroic female protagonist, and a good example to young girls.
