Adelina is a fugitive struggling to gain control over her newfound powers in a medieval-like fantasy world, but when she teams up with a group of young people like herself, who call themselves the Young Elites, her will to stay true to herself starts to fade, and her dangerous powers begin slipping out of her grasp even more.
Parents should be aware that this book contains:
• Child abuse
• Violence (a finger is broken; killing; descriptions of dead bodies)
• A young man kisses and suggests he’s done more with a married woman
• References to breasts
• A main character is a prostitute, and there are some references to his job at a brothel, and his clients, who are both men and women
• Mild profanity (d*mn, b*stard)
• Some drinking
Fans of Legend won’t be disappointed with this darker, grittier, and more sexual-oriented first book in the author’s new fantasy series. Although it’s slightly more mature than Marie Lu’s dystopian trilogy, it’s just as intriguing, and the cast of characters is large and complex.
