Book Review: Fallen (Fallen, Book 1), By Lauren Kate

Fallen (Fallen, #1)
Fallen (Fallen, book 1)
By: Lauren Kate

From the first day she saw him, Luce could have sworn she knew Daniel from somewhere. He was so familiar. Then again, with shadows following her and terrible things lurking in her past - Luce could just be crazy. But then why was she so drawn to him?
Fallen is an intriguing, but slow paced young adult read containing:
  • language
  • obscene gestures
  • teenage drinking
  • use of medication/electricity to control behavior
  • moderately descriptive violence
  • murder
And extensively sensual
  • kissing
  • hugging
  • touching
  • daydreaming
I recommend parental discretion with younger readers. Christian readers should be aware that this story, while centered around some Biblical facts, takes substantial liberties with them to the point that they are no longer Biblically accurate. As the first in a series, Fallen has a satisfactory, but inconclusive ending.

The Fallen Series:
  • Book 1: Fallen (Review)
  • Book 2: Torment (Review)
  • Book 3: Passion
  • Book 3.5: Fallen In Love
  • Book 4: Rapture

  1. Oh I loved this book and just finished the last in the series, sorta reminds me of Evermore, but in the end I like this series ending much better. :)

  2. The amazing thing about this book is it describes the difficulty of forgetting your past beautifully and makes the characters believable. It makes you feel for them when they are having trouble or are happy. But it also includes a gripping end that leads into the next book and makes you want to read on.
