What happens when evil scientists do DNA research? Meet part avian, mostly human Maximum Ride and her flock of five bird kids. They escaped from their scientist jailors a couple years ago, but when their safe house is discovered and one of them is captured - it's up to Max and her winged family to keep them all from a lifetime of experimentation (a.k.a. torture), confinement, and death.

The Angel Experiment is an enjoyable young adult read that starts fast, takes you to the very end and leaves you hanging. That's right - it's inconclusive. The key thing to know about the Maximum Ride series is that books 1 - 3 (out of 8) function like a trilogy with the first real ending coming at the end of the third book.

Readers should be aware that this book contains:

  • name calling
  • mild language (God used as profanity, hell, etc ... but no use of the F word)
  • potty humor
  • non-gory violence
  • injuries
  • killing
  • stealing
  • references to medical procedures (taking of blood, etc...)
